Grocery Stores

Rabbit Food Grocery is Austin’s one stop shop for guaranteed vegan products. They have everything from lip balm, to vegan cheeses, to dog food, to supplements. Visit them at South First and Live Oak.

Wheatsville Co-op has two locations in Austin and it a must visit if you are in Austin, even if you are only in town for 5 minutes. The popcorn tofu is known throughout the world and the deli has tons of fantastic vegan items plus a knowledgeable staff. They also have pretty much every vegan product you could want, produce from local farms, and other locally sourced products like kombucha and vegan kimchee. Most of their body care vegan products and none of them are tested on animals.

Whole Foods the flagship of this Austin-grown institution sits at the busiest intersection in town and 6th and Lamar but there are several other locations in town. I really like the breakfast tacos downtown and the big john cookies. They have lots of raw items and vegan frozen food that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s also the best place for bulk items like nut butters, specialty salts, and all sorts of grains.

Central Market This is my favorite place for produce when I’m looking for a specific kind of potato, apple, onion, or whatever. They have the widest selection of anyone. They also have a great selection of beer and wine, and even gourmet ingredients like truffle oil or every shape of noodle. I really like their tortillas.

Fiesta There are two locations for this gigantic supermarket. If you need any Mexican or Caribbean ingredients from nopales to fresh epazote to giant sapotes, and green mangos this is the place to go. They also have a large international section with a British aisle, India, Middle Eastern, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Central and South American and Health Food. They make delicious corn tortillas, they sell fresh masa, and the prices are very reasonable.

HEB- The go-to grocery chain in Texas has multiple locations in town but the one at Hancock Market is by far the most vegan friendly. And the most chaotic!

Grocery and Meal Delivery

Greenling- You can sign up for a local box that pulls together an assortment of fresh produce from surrounding farms or sign up for their meal kits which I blogged about here. Check out Vegan Greenling for recipes and ideas.

Veggytopia- You can order a one time delivery or add a subscription to this vegan meal service. The menu is all vegan, healthy, and even can contain dessert.

Super Natural Food- vegan, raw food delivery service. Deliveries are made each evening between 7:00PM and 10:00PM. Clients have the option to choose from a two-day, five-day or seven-day meal plan.

Postmates- They will deliver food from any of the food trailers or restaurants in town

BBQ Revolution - This all vegan barbecue food truck will cater your event.

Counter Culture - This awesome vegan restaurant can do off-site catering, meaning you order (off menu is fine) and pick up. You have to have your own servers and equipment. They can make pretty much anything that people request. They have even hosted wedding receptions and rented out our patio for private catered events.

Pink Avocado- It looks like they can put together a pretty fantastic vegan menu for a wedding or other big event.

Whole Foods- Can also do a fully vegan menu, serve, and clean up.

Culinary School

The Natural Epicurean - The teach public classes on everything from Artisan Vegan Cheese to working with seasonal produce. Their main focus, however, is on their Professional Culinary Program which includes vegan, vegetarian, macrobiotic, and raw foods.

Pet Sitting

Prickly Pear Pet Care - pet sitting, dog walking, and pet taxi services since 2011. Offers daily dog walks, pet sitting visits, pet transport and errand services, limited in home boarding, and other specialized amenities.

Health & Wellness

Bonebreaker Barbell- Austin’s all vegan gym! You sign up for group classes on strength training that are kind of like crossfit. All the trainers are vegan and so are many of the members.

Beauty

Lush - None of the body-care, make up, or hair-care products at Lush are tested on animals and many are all labeled with a V for vegan.

Aveda Institute 6001 Middle Fiskville Road, Suite 200 All Aveda products are vegan and at this institute you can get many treatments like mani-pedis, facials, massage, and hair coloring, shampoo, and cuts at a discounted price if you go with a student.

Beautifully Bare Waxing Vegan owned waxing/sugaring. The wax is not tested on animals and the ingredients are vegan.

Hotels & Bed and Breakfast

Park Lane Guest House 221 Park Ln Private cottages just off South Congress. Eco-friendly and vegetarian bed and breakfast. They will make vegan breakfast.

Habitat Suites Outdoor Salt Water Pool, Hot Breakfast Daily with vegan options, Edible Landscaping. Check the reviews.

Winfield Farm - Is know for being a small family run sustainable farm growing organic seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts that’s a regular at the downtown farmer’s market. But they also have a 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom farmhouse that can also be rented for large gatherings, weddings, and events. Or you can stay at Hotel California, their cozy guest cabin. It has a small kitchenette or you can have them prepare you vegetarian or vegan meals.

Rainbow Hearth Bed And Breakfast Spa Retreat Center A bit farther out-of-town this spa has a bed and breakfast along with delicious looking vegan meals. Pet friendly and on Lake Buchanan

The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary - The animals at this zoo are all rescues and each has a touching story about how they ended up at the zoo.
